Salon Assistant

Assistant qualifications:
– Completed beauty school or currently enrolled in beauty school

– Amazing people skills
– Commitment to apprentice program

As an assistant at Sara June you will be assigned to two stylists every day and will be in charge of helping clients have a great experience at the salon. We value our assistants and treat you as equals because we know you are the center of our quickly spinning universe:)

Sara June has quickly gained a reputation one of the best salons in the Brooklyn. We do a lot of balayage painting, double process blondes, ombre, and highlights. I hesitate to say we specialize in blonding, but that seems to be what we are all really good at. Our cuts are wearable, low-maintenance and long lasting. Our clients love that they aren’t coming in every 6-8 weeks, more like every 12-20 weeks. We are a higher cost, but high value salon.

Although our price point is high-end for Brooklyn, our client experience is low-key and friendly. We have a laid-back, comfortable atmosphere, and we are lucky to have really bright, successful people as clients. All this being said, the right personality is very important for this position. You wear many hats and are expected to think on your feet and make decisions based on what you think is best for the client and the salon. This is a high energy position that requires constant interaction with clients and stylists.

There is a weekly cutting or color class for assistants with me (the owner) or another master stylist. We have three assistants so the classes are very hands-on with direct feedback.

If you’re passionate, motivated and want to learn from the best, please stop in to drop off your resume on Mondays or Tuesdays. It will give me a chance to meet you and spend a moment chatting with you. We’re looking to hire within the next few weeks as one of our assistants is getting on the floor mid-to-late September.

Compensation: Day Rate TBD based on experience.
